About the building:
The Institute has more than 25 years of existence, it is a cultural space inside the favela located in Jardim Ângela, in the south region of the city of São Paulo (SP).
“Designing the building of the Favela da Paz Institute, such a noble cause, filled us with perspectives and opened new horizons in the art of architecture that has as its central object to shelter people in a space created by people. Beings that inhabit the same address in the cosmos”. Affirms the architect Patrícia O’Reilly, one of the idealizers of the project.
For the project to be complete, it should meet the expectations of this unique Institute.
“We needed to go beyond and connect with that reality. The building should connect with that community and be able to give voice to its needs and desires so that the transformation would have solid foundations to happen,” adds Patrícia, a partner at Atelier O’Reilly Architecture & Partners.
The mission was to bring to the world of architecture materials that, together with design, could give birth to the recognition that those people were seeking. The team entered the universes of technology, art and design to design in a non-impact way and with zero toxicity.
An immersion in the community was made and the dream of integration and regeneration of being was experienced. They created architecture, art, urban furniture and design with digital technology to meet the desires of this Institute that can change the inner world of each one of us.
